Wachesaw Plantation East
A true Lowcountry gem, Wachesaw Plantation East is a Clyde Johnston design that has seen its share of great golf since opening in 1996. Over the years, it has hosted four nationally broadcasted LPGA tournaments, including the Kathy Ireland Classic. Built upon a former Carolina rice plantation, the terrain includes rolling fairways, natural wetlands and numerous strategically located live oaks. Featuring a hint of Scottish design, the course weaves through a mix of landscapes, from tidal swamps and coastal woodlands to upscale neighborhoods and a charming clubhouse where you can unwind after your round.
The course opens with a gentle par 4, dogleg left and gradually turns up the challenge as you play around the par 72 layout. By the last several holes, the course commands your full attention, and rewards those who bring it!
Wachesaw Plantation East is located just off of Highway 17 near the popular seafood district of Murrells Inlet, and is a member of the Waccamaw Golf Trail. Golf Digest has recognized Wachesaw Plantation East’s excellence for design, condition and service, awarding it 4.5 stars in “The Guide to the Best Places to Play in America” which makes it a must play on your next visit.
