We formed a team to raise money for Folds of Honor.  An organization supporting the legacies of our fallen and disabled military service members.  It is our way to say ‘Thank You’ to the 1% of American’s willing to stand guard over our freedoms and who have sacrificed so much in doing so.

Patriot Golf Day ® is joint initiative of The PGA of America and the USGA. So we will be joining golfers all across this great nation in an event that raises money to provide educational scholarships to children and spouses adversely affected by war. Over 10,000 scholarships have been provided since 2007!

The Folds of Honor foundation affectionately named us the Myrtle Beach PGA Patriots.  Diane Nemecek of the foundation called us the most “dynamic” group she has ever met.

Last year we wanted to grow our event and decided to take over Labor Day weekend.  The plan was to host a dinner gala Friday evening, a Ryder Cup style scramble event on Saturday, and the ever popular 100 hole marathon on Sunday.  Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Hermine we were forced to cancel the gala due to unsafe conditions.  Happily, despite the 8+ inches of rain, we still teed off on Saturday morning for the inaugural Patriot Open at the Pearl Golf Links.  The open consisted of two teams of 40 players captained by the MB PGA Patriots.  The Red team and Blue team battled for “Glory”, a brass eagle trophy.  The Blue team prevailed by only two shots to win “Glory”.  Our group gave away and raffled off almost $20,000 worth of prizes.  The weekend ended with our immensely popular 100 hole marathon at Rivers Edge Golf Club.  The MB Patriots and I completed the twelve hour adventure in front of a large crowd of members and supporters.

Speaking on behalf of the MB PGA Patriots, I can say that we are truly honored to join the mission.  Our team has proudly grown awareness for Folds of Honor in Myrtle Beach and we strive to do better each year.  We will not fail our fallen heroes. The real praise goes to the support from our memberships, families, friends, and the community.

Last year's contribution totaled $40,421.  That brings our three year total to $89,398.
